I’m amazed at this new, eye-opening level of productivity thanks to a couple small workflow tweaks (AKA “productivity pr0n”).

Okay, so the concept isn’t exactly new (it has been covered and discussed in length). Unfortunately, or maybe ironically, I never had the time to really try it out for myself… until now.

Please note that the techniques that follow aren’t meant to be an universal, all-purpose life hack, but rather a set of small adjustments that may or may not work for you.

Step #1: Don’t keep a schedule

This is actually a very effective tweak, but unfortunately fairly impractical for the vast majority of professionals. You can read more about the theory here.

Step #2: Avoid meetings whenever you can

This tip should be appreciated in context. Startups are unique in terms of their operational dynamics. Very few mature organizations will be able to get get away with this.

But if you do have to take meetings, try to run them while standing. Sounds strange, I know. Give it a try.

Step #3: Apply structured procrastination

Turns out, I’ve been using this in my creative pursuits for quite some time without realizing that you can apply it to other aspects of your life. Granted, I wasn’t even aware this was a tried & true technique until I started to dig in into the whole productivity pr0n drawer.

The gist of it is that you should leverage the procrastination process to get other things done instead. Give it a try and see for yourself. I must admit, I like it quite a bit.

Having said that, if all things fail, just “sleep on it”.

I guess I should mention that this whole ”productivity pr0n” endeavour is a work-in-progress for me. I’m still trying out various other tweaks and techniques, but out of the ones I’ve tried so far, these would be my current favorites.
